About Us:
The Guild of Maine Woodworkers, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1991 to
foster the finest traditions of the woodworking crafts. This group of professional artisans
promoted their work through participation in Maine made wood products juried shows
and offering one-of-a kind commission work. Over the years we evolved to become a
place for beginners to learn the craft. Today, our members range from casual hobbyists
to seasoned woodworking professionals, and from those just starting out to those with
decades of experience. What connects us all is a shared enthusiasm for woodworking
and a commitment to growing our skills.
Through workshops; demonstrations sharing information about woodworking
techniques, tools, source of supplies; problem solving and strategizing; field trips; and
networking with other members, we continue to learn and sharpen our skills. We strive
to build an inclusive community where all members feel safe, valued, and able to
contribute.
The Shaker Philosophy, “Don’t make something unless it’s useful and necessary. But if
you find it useful and necessary, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful.
